It’s always hard to find a venue that will cater to the full party-goer’s wish list; you may start with after work drinks, but as the hours pass and more drinks are ordered, it’s good to find yourself in a trendy venue with tasty cocktails and an intriguing crowd of people. Mr. Purple has everything a night out needs in one place, and tops it all off with a killer 360 degrees view of Manhattan.
Sitting on the 15th floor of the Hotel Indigo on the Lower East Side, Mr. Purple is best known for it’s low-lit terraces, both of which offer a beautiful scope of the city in the Spring and Summer months. The larger of the two is outfitted with every genre of seating, including chaise lounges and patio furniture around the pool. If you’re trying to escape the chill of winter, the indoor bar and dining area is equally enchanting, with high wooden beams and floor-to-ceiling windows that give off an airy, creative ambiance.
Drink-wise, it is extremely hard to go wrong at this place. Mr. Purple’s cocktail menu is a pristine collection, whether you’re a sweet or savory drinker. The Rooftop Lemonade is a great choice for a daytime refresher, and the Irving Farm Espresso Martini is equally powerful for an evening pick-me-up. If you are feeling adventurous, and you LOVE bananas, try the Barrel of Monkeys. It is a seriously unique combination of tastes, and it is one of our absolute favorite things on the menu.
All those delicious drinks will probably leave you peckish at some point, and luckily, almost everything on Mr. Purple’s dinner menu is meant for sharing. So order up the Cheese & Charcuterie plate and the Tuna Tartar, which will be just enough to satisfy your appetite and give you some fuel for mingling amongst a well-dressed crowd.
